Just got to recommend it, it's yummy

I gets it from Lidl's for about a quid a tin 400ml and it's made from peanuts to a South African recipe so it says. Oh slightly spicy with bits of meat in in, probably dog meat, but I have no problems eating dog.

But highly recommended

Oh i did see that when there last, i just thought - 'what the hell'.

Wouldnt mind trying it though.

Its german, theyre stuff is generally good.

Made with "real meat" apparently! As opposed to, ooh, I dunno, lumps of MDF steeped in Oxo??

Worryingly thats not far off what some of the dog food producers put in their food, even the branded ones like pedigree chum. The fillers they use are really quite amazing, soya and corn gluten being favourites.

The only difference between pedigree chum and the cheapest stuff in the shop is the advertising budget. It's definitely worth spending a bit of time researching just what you are feeding your dog...you can feed it healthily for not a lot more than you spend feeding it rubbish.
 
The meat in doggie food is mechanically recovered,i wont go into that subject because its simply yucky and its getting close to dinner time :lol:
Prime bullock is about 18 months old but there are cattle like breeders and milkers that are processed after their usable life for ready meals,cheap sausage,burgers and the like.
General trade term is 'cow meat' When you do your apprenticeship you spend time at college working under meat inspectors on day or block release.It is cow meat that we use to train them on as its cheap as chips[though not as good :lol:] as the young slashers are pretty kack handed to begin with and quality would be ruined.

For bull meat you take a 20lb bucket of it and chuck in the same weight of water,leave overnight and you have 40lb of product ready to go into the doggie mix[with other ingredients,preservatives etc]

Some real butchers shops sell 'dog mince' which is usually a mix of old trimmings[with not enough shelf life to be added into brock,pronounced 'broke' though that might be limited to Scotland only.] rusk and liver be that old lambs or cow..Not pleasant to make but it doesnt contain the crap that big profit driven processors use.
 
It stands to reason the lower a group is down the food chain the lowest grade cuts of meat they get, I have noticed it in the supermarket, meat 'shapes' are cheaper than recognisable cuts of meat and the more disguised the meat is the cheaper it is, so when it comes to bread crumb covered shapes, what you are eating is basically scrotums and eyelids any left over stuff that can be blasted off the bone, swept off the floor, squished together into a shape and ridden with bread crumbs.

I just wonder which price group of people inhabit which tier of meat quality, are dog foods better meat than the mechanically recovered bread crumb covered shapes that the poorest feed their kids.

Anyone tried eating dog food ? I will tell you, if you didn't know it was dog food, you would eat it, especially in a stew.
