Just acquired one.

Did Barry Chick build
much for PR.....mine has Chick
on the fork crown.

The frame has Campag dropouts
and comes with a Campag Super Record headset
The rear dropouts spacing is 126mm.

My guess is the tubing is
Columbus SL but I will put up a pic shortly I say
this on the the shape of the front fork...flat rather
than dome ala Reynolds.

my mistake....wrong Pat!.....Pat Rohan!

Like the "Chick" on the above Pat Rohan frame ?

Shaun

Identical...same colour......though not easy to tell.....lugs look similar and seat cluster looks the same too.

Mine is a Pat Rohan.....looks identical to the one in the ebay link....however.....
the decals are above the lacquer......the ones on the DT are poorly done......paint is ok but not brilliant.....about to wash it.

Strange that...........the Pat Rohan with the Barry Chick fork panto stuck in my memory as I'd never seen one before and so I put it in my watch list for sheer curiosity. Never thought another one would turn up LOL

Anybody who Time Trialed in the 70's will know of Barry Chick and his Shorter connections, however he must have built for other people to earn a crust so I guess Pat Rohan ordered a few frames for his shop or direct for his customers. I worked at Cliff Pratt in Hull and before my time the shop used to order in frames and put Cliff Pratt Decals on them, rumour has it that Cliff even ordered from Hetchins and put his name on the frames......

Pics would be nice :)

Pics on later.....a few points.....weight is about 1.875Kg....frame and forks....guesing on weight of BB and headset.....was built using Campag SR.components....still has SR hesdset.....don't know who the BB is made by......told by seller takes a 27.2mm seatpost.....only one I have is an USE Alien.....hardly goes in.....but took a 27.2mm USE shim and 25mm post..worked ok...so perhaps the seat tube needs reaming.

The decals have poorly put on....above lacquer.....doubt done professionally.......no metal headplate......otherwise very similar to mine including colour.

mine is 53cm sq.....for all I know the two frames could be one and same....just sold on.....ebay one's seat tube is 21".....again similar.

would a 53cm sq frame be Columbus SP bearing in mind the above measured weight of frame and forks?

Re weighed frame and forks......2.7kg..nearly 6lb without headset or BB......so heavier than I first thought......but perhaps consistent with Columbus SL.....any opinions on that......could it be a SL/SP mix?

Hmmm......may be the same frame sold on and Barry Chick never made frames for Pat Rohan?

70's Frames and weights are a bit iffy........My 70's Kevin Sayles bob jackson has strange looking chain stays which I am sure are not Reynolds......there was also a trend of using track / single butted / non butted tubing on road and TT frame main triangles to get extra stiffness.
