Bought a bike and the seller kindly included some Pace rigid forks

Not being much of a Pace afficiando and wondered what they are as in model, age and whether they will take 1in and 1 1/8in steerers
The logo seems to be sort of a purple hologram effect and sound to the flick like steel
Any help much appreciated,thanks

oooh nice shiny RC30's! Worth ££££££££ these days. Crown usually determines steerer - i.e. they had 1" and 1 1/8" (?? 1 1/4"). You can shim down of course.

yes steel BTW. Look up RC30 in a search here and find plenty (though don't tend to go cheap especially in that condition)

Theyre RC30's with the refractive pink/purple decals,not sure on year,early 90's though.

Has the crown got an alloy spacer in it allready around the steerer?

not the earliest as they have the bonded alloy dropouts. Other than that I cant say.

Steerer wise, you can get shims that reduce from 1 1/8th to 1" If they are 1 " already, you just need a new crown (same as RC35's)

Thanks for the replies, seem to have totally missed the Pace thing (probably because I could never afford them at the time)

Had a look and they are just a 1in threaded steerer and no shim.

Not sure what to do with them now because the bike has an Aheadset with some nice Sids fitted.
Are replacement Ahead steerers available? bet they ain't :(

Being honest will probably flog them to recoup a bit of my outlay, but they are very nice to look at :D

yes you can get the proper ones from 'justbackdated' on here or www.ceeway.com do steerers quite cheaply (but you'll need to machine a groove and find a circlip to put in at the bottom.

well worth doing.

if you want to sell though, these days £15 should be a good price - I'll take them off you for that  Oh, all right, it'll be more like £80-90+ potentially I would have thought.

serously think about keeping them though, they're such a nice piece of kit that will look right on most bikes.

Thanks very much for the info, bit surprised that the steerers are so readily available.

Even more surprised at the potential selling price given they are just rigid steel forks and not as light or nice looking as the shiny Rockstars on my Marin.

Bit of a quandry now :?:

if you want to sell though, these days £15 should be a good price
If you had said that on your first reply would probably have taken it with a bit of postage money added on :D
