Pace RC30 disc mounts

Hi, first post!

Does anyone know if there are any aftermarket disc mounts available for my Pace RC 30s? They are the chrome plated steel ones, c.1997, with a yellow 'Racing' decal.

Thanks.

Same Hope brake system as used on the RC35/36 with the shimmed clamp and 'stay' that extends to the hub axle used in conjunction with a Hope hub and disc with the early caliper.

The shim for the RC30 was a straight tube and not contoured like the one to fit the shape of the RC35/36 carbon leg, so if you can find the clamp and brake system the shim can easily be made.

Note the old clamp system is not ISO standard and only fits the old original Hope brakes.

Those forks look lovely - who made them and, gulp, how much?

My forks are on an RC200F6 - I had it from new, turned it into a 'road' bike by fitting rigid forks (it had RC36s on it originally), slicks and bigger gears about 7 years ago. Then I bought a 'proper' road bike and sold the Pace to a friend on condition I got first refusal if he wanted to sell it on. He did, so I've bought it back. I just thought it would be nice to fit disc brakes if possible. it's not immaculate - it had some proper hard use before it was retired from off road duties. I also wondered about getting it re-anodised. Any recommendations in the north?

I used these guys http://www.m-gineering.nl/, but then I am based in Holland. I am sure any half-decent frame builder can do this. Cost, not sure, I think it came in at about 150-200 for the fork legs and nickel-plating them.

There's loads of thread on re-anodising, try the search functoin to find some up north.

Cheers, Giel

Hi Giel,

Can you tell me - were your new fork legs made using steel or aluminium and what type/grade?

I'm thinking of getting some of these made up too :)

I didn't think you could get a disc to fit in an RC30 with standard crown & drop outs that were centeral to the fork leg, I remember trying it with a Hope sport hub with 5arm spider on my 96 RC30's. I think Pace made a wide crown version using an RC36 crown with offset RC36 drop outs (I think it may have been sold as a trials fork) you'll probably get a disc in that version.

Here it is, Pace RC30 trials fork, with wide RC36 monobox crown & offset drop outs, vs standard RC30 with narrow monobox crown (same width as gullwing crown) & standard centeral drop outs.
