Pace RC200 renovation HELP!

haberdashery

Devout Dirtbag
I am the proud owner of an RC200 F4 frame :D

I know these have a light anodising, and mine has some bad scuff marks where a previous owner has had a lock around the seat/down tube area...

Has anyone stripped one down and re-anodised the frame?
I assume if I try to buff out the marks then it will rub off the thin anodised layer and the frame will not match...

Any advice would be most welcome :) [/b]

Any pictures of the damage? It's not difficult to get re-ando again. Good company in Portsmouth area.

part or full refurb?

I guess my question should have been is there a localised fix or is it a case of getting the whole frame done?

I have buffing cloths and polishing compounds at my place of work, but am keen to not make a mess : )

It could be a good excuse to take it back to a raw finish and make it feel like new again!

I was told not to re- ano stuff as it weakens the alloy. Have you got a dermel to use?? That needs a good polish then will look 8)

hope it matches...

I am happy dremeling away, just hope that the finish matches once I take off the anodised layer.

Thanks for the vote of confidence : )

ps

do you have a web address for the anodisers you recommended nr Portsmouth?

My mind is racing with all the non original colours this frame could go ; )

You sure that's annodised?

it looks like laquer to me, which you could strip off and then polish much like loads of GT Zaskars on here( i did the same on my Kona U'hu).

laquer or anodising

I think I might give Pace a ring to confirm the finish...

I originally thought it had a 'flash' anodising - a very quick dip so to speak.
Now I am not so sure...

I will post the final conclusion on this, and also some pics if I take the frame to the anodisers :D
