Isn't there a thread on removing knackered and stuck seatposts? There must be a wealth of experience on here about the best way to do it...

Just been through the seat post thing with a Marin.Tried everything to no avail before reaching for the Recip saw, three hours later had cut it out

Even if the frame is toast there is £250+ of useful parts there, as alluded to before 'original' RC100s are few and far between.

I managed it on my F1. As long as you cut the top of the seatpost off. Below are the problem, the tool, and the aftermath.

You my get lucky and it may come out with plusgas, you may be able to carefully saw through it with the above method. You may find that it just won't give. I have experiences a number and have only been beaten by one. I have suffered blood sweat and tears on others and would be very woried about damaging the frame on this one but if you take it easy you could come out on top. If you rush it there's a good chance you'll damage the frame and or yourself.

My view is that everyone assumes the worst (which in fairness is a good idea when laying out this sort of cash!)

I bet he's barely tried to shift it and it ends up coming out (relatively) easily...

Lets face it, if he had put any effort into this at all, he'd have removed the rear mech and chain as they are totally fubarred...

I fancy going for a look - just to see if I can get the post out! :D :D

Ha ha ha! Me too. ;-)

I am sure I could pick this up for someone if they won it. I could package it up properly.

Judging by the photos and the description I wouldn't personally trust the seller to pack it well. A stuck seatpost isn't worth worrying about if he packs the wheels in with frame with no padding in-between.

PM me if you need a hand.
