Overburys pioneer 19" frame

Went to look at this today at the shop as I would LOVE a Pioneer. It is an interesting frame for sure. Unlike every other Pioneer I have seen this is not lugged around the seat tube and bottom bracket.

The top tube doesnt seem so sloping and it is difficult to tell without forks but the chain stay not so horizontal as a Pioneer either.

I am guessing it is maybe a custom order. What do you think LGF?

On the downside the chain suck is pretty bad with some surface corrosion and obviously the seatpost is stuck.

It may be that no two are alike. My own are not identical.

Old Ned was selling some decent chrome Columbus OR forks that would suit this down to the ground.

**EDIT**

Top tube routed front mech and 'standard' positioning of the bottle cages may point to a later frame. Mr. Kawasaki is your man and theres always the shop itself.

Looking through the "show us" thread, the bottle cage mounts and seat tube collar are the same as Reluctant's black Pioneer. Though like you say this has TT gear cable routing.

I take it this is a larger frame than his but the top tube is still quite horizontal. TBH it is still a lovely Overburys frame, and completely fillet brazed. I just wondered if maybe the geometry was more touring based than XC race?

the top routed overburys were a little later as i recall 1990 and after. front facing seat clamp was also a later feature. as the all the braze-ons and angle they change a lot. i think the overbury team were lugless jigless builds. you need a lot of skill but i means you cant manafacture like you can with a full jig set up. I love the fact they are all different, makes them personal. No sure how much it will go for with a seat post and bb stuck in. I was going to have a crack at it and doign it up like my last one. but if you fancy it i shall back off.

Cheers
Pete

Am definitely going for it but won't be bidding silly sums. I wouldn't be surprised if the shop sells it privately mind, I got the impression they had fielded a few calls about it!

Nice one cheers Pete. Hopefully it will go for a reasonable price. It needs a load doing to it so fingers crossed!
