Just a couple of pics from this mornings outing on the Proflex. Bit of a shake down test really as I'd not ridden it in anger since changing a few bits.
I think the rear cassette is knackered as the chain jumps like a b**stard and the rear shock has no damping whatsoever giving a rather bouncy ride to say the least.
Still enjoyed getting out though, and it didn't rain which was a bonus!

The shock on that 757 I picked up was evil without even riding it!! Thankfully I nicked the one of the Beast that will be taking a back seat was much better still yet to have its maiden ride :D

oh yes!

Yes all sorted,I just plonk my 14stone bulk on the saddle and suddenly the chain is nowhere near the mech!

Don't know

I don't know, the Girvin item on mine looks hopelessy basic, probably only needs a new o-ring or something. If I can find a more modern shock in the right sort of length and slender enough to fit in the top mount i'm going to "adjust"(take a grinder to it and weld on new top and bottom mounts to suit)it to fit the 856 and see how it feels then.
i enjoyed riding it today but going up hill was like being on a camel!

I can imagine ... I took my one off lent it against the wall and pushed down it came back so quick I took off across the garage!!

Yes, just o-rings and 30 weight.

If you do weld on a new top to the strut, be advised that it is bonded at the 4 joints. So when the welding starts, the heat melts the glue, and the pressure sends the parts flying. You will need to clean off the glue and weld those too.

Don't ask me how I know.
