Orange serial numbers and colours

Hi there orange fans!!!

got 2 questions....

1 - how do the serial numbers work on oranges? mine is A8912448


2 - what are the rarest colourways. I have one which is purple to orange fade on forks/bb and one which is the same as the orange to white but yelow instead

I understand that the first 2 numbers are the year it was made and the second 2 the month. That makes yours a December 1989 frame.

Very early Clockworks/Prestige's sometimes had yellow or pink instead of orange and there's a few kicking around on here although they are rare. The purple to orange fade was from around '91/early '93 I believe and is also rare. A member on her posted one up not so long ago.

From what I've seen the least seen colour is silver/grey from the same years as the purple orange fade. I used to lust after a '92 Clockwork in this colour and am in the process of finding the right colour match for a frame of mine so I can recreate my dream bike from BITD. Asked a few times on here but no one seems to have one, and only ever seen one (tiny, tatty frame) listed for sale since I got back into retro bikes.
