Orange seat clamp size

Just collected the X1 frame from Russell, thanks mate it looks fab!

I have been waiting for it to know what size front mech and seat post clamp I need, and the seat clamp appears to be a very odd size indeed. It measures exactly 33mm!

Anyone come accross that size before? Where do I get one of those?

I think my X1 uses 28.6 front mech and a 26.4 seatpost. Not sure about clamp...

cheers buddy, this one takes a 31.8 mech, 29.4 seat post, and the outer diam of the seat tube is dead on 33mm.

It could be that there is external butting at the top of the seat tube, making it wider (as well as thicker) at that point than at the point where the fm clamps.

But then I have a 28.6 Kona clamp here which measures 31mm and fits onto a 28.6 tube which measures 29.5 - but not when you tighten the clamp though.

Well the tube that the mech clamps onto, and the seat tube are not the same tube on this bike. The mech clamps onto part of the rear triangle. (full suspension).

Has anybody come across a seat clamp this size?

The Clockwork frame I've just aquired uses a 29.8 seatpost. :roll:

I do have a couple of Orange seatpost collars though, your welcome to one if you want to see if it fits, but I think they're 31.4mm.

I've also got a collar with QR of unknown make that is 35mm.

strange sizes

hello sorry i cant help you but i allso have a orange bike alimnium o old 90s cycle with a strange seat post size cant find a seat post for it anywhere ..why did they do this ...
