"it has been professionally resprayed by argos racing cycles at some point

there are a few minor chips to the paint, mainly chainslap, but the frame is in very good condition with no dents, cracks or rust"

It was restored very recent wasn't it? comissioned to paint by Argos by you.

I'm concerned you are under selling this. Average ebay buyer will expect it to be tidy ish but wonder what it was like before, and not know how much has gone into getting it looking fresh again. Good luck with it, :) pictures look good, ya should get 3 figures...

Dunno, Prestige frames tend to go for well under £100. I'm not sure this one will sell if your reserve is much more than that.

the auction ended unsold at £52. i'm in no rush to sell it though. these old frames get more desirable as time goes by dont they? especially in this condition

Don't want to be the harbinger of doom, but its already had the best part of 20 yrs to become desirable.

I've bought/sold a couple of Prestie frames over the past few years and not one of them was for sale for more than £60.

Someone here was selling a complete bike with various bits of retro bling for £300 and that price got slated IIRC.

You may find that a matt black frame or classic orange/white fade would make more money as they're more popular colours but you'd still only be looking at £75-£100, unless it was really really good.

The paint was 3 figures though wasn't it? that was kinda my point, with a stronger more appealining advert giving the hard sell abaout how good a frame it is, and now with a fresh pro coating, you might get some better dollahz for it. I know this strategy all too well now after some expensive MOTs on retro cars I refused to let become parts fodder by not MOTing, They needed tidying and a strong advert. I didn't make profit or even all my money back (thats cars) but did pass on to good owners at a strong price.

I still wonder if the MTB scene will get like the BMX/Chopper scene eventually...

Suprised it was only bid up to £52. I paid more for a frame that wasn't in as good nick as yours Sean and was happy with the price. :?

Why not stick it on here with a fixed price and keep bumping it. You should get a bite in the end?

I'd relist  if I'd remembered  I would have bid £100 ish which I suspect is knowhere near your reserve but bidder 3 might have been willing to go higher.

It only takes a few more people to want it and you might get what you want for it

Good point - Ebay does tend to be a bit wild as well in terms of prices, what might have been £50 one day will be £150 another. I've had the best/worst of both worlds using it to sell on.

Another suggestion would to be to maybe mail the high bidder and see if you can nail the deal? It's a bit underhand but at least them you can avoid Ebay/Paypal taking a chunk of what you'll make on it

I think lack of forks would have impacted quite significantly on the price. After all, where would find/how much would one have to pay for a replacement?
And TBH what the paint cost is not really relevant.
Nice frame but lots SIMILAR out there for not much money.
