Orange P7 - re-nickel plating OR lacquering?

Hi all,

Just acquired a superb example of a nickel finished Orange P7 and want to preserve finish as long as possible (I've read horror stories about nickel finish deteriorating over time).

What I want to know is :-

1. Does anyone know of anyone capable or re-plating (for future reference, when the time comes), and, if so, what is likely cost?

2. Does anyone know of anyone capable of applying a quality lacquer finish over the original coating to protect my bike, again, with likely cost?

Hi mate I went down this road in sept. Argos cycles in Bristol said they could get the frame stripped and re-finished in nickel but would not commit to the finish being very good as it would have to be done by others. Best thing to do would be to strip the frame and get argos to give it a few coats of laquer.
In the end I got mine stripped and painted in a colour similar to the original Pace RC100 and it turned out very well

Don't laquer it, it'll eventualy start to crack and peel and look crap. IMHO the best thing to do is look after it, clean it regularly and always give it a wipe over afterwards with oil for protection.

It can always be re plated. The streetfighter scene had it's own equivalent of purple ano phase where you couldn't move for nickle plated Harris Magnums and they did look the dog's wotsits.
