Bought this bike new in the mid 1980's and it's not done many miles! I mostly ride a road bike! Only considering selling because I need the room for new venture.

Also, have a Allen Alloy with XT etc would consider selling either of these bikes Here's some photos of the Allen framed bike >

Have sent you a PM if you decide to split the C16R? (After the handlebar stem, seat-post & shim and maybe a few more parts)

Good luck with the sale of your bikes :)

Jussa :)

I know that we're not supposed to comment on pricing, but I'm just saying this to try to help you sell your C-16.

£325 is a little bit steep considering the Alivio spec level. If you want to achieve close to that sort of price then you'd have more luck if you split the bike and sold the bits seperately.

As I said, I'm just trying to help you sell your bike that's all :)

Thanks for the PM,

But wont be splitting the bike down in to parts! Although the bike is about 25, years old it's probably done less than 300, miles, If someone was looking for a beautiful bike? they could get on and ride away without any worries, Then the C16R would be just fine for them!

Thanks for that! PM would have been better; but your opinion is noted!

I'm not selling because I have / or need to! I'm just thinking of the room I need for a new venture! But I wont be braking either of the bikes down in to parts! The condition of either of these bikes is excellent and worth IMO even more than the suggested price.

But thanks for sharing your opinion on the forum page.

Just so you can get your advert right, that C16 is a mid 90's model rather than a mid 80's one. Comparing the decals with mine (very early '95) and my wife's (a '97), I would say probably a late '96, just before they took the cantilever bracket off the wishbone seatstay. Others here might be able to identify more accurately

I agree about the pricing as well; it's a very nice bike but if you want that much money for it you'd be well advised to split it. You will find a high demand for ancillary components like seatpost, stem, bars, bar ends because so many people took them off at the time to "upgrade" them. Also Alivio was well down the pecking order for groupsets at the time.

I believe 1994 was when Orange first released the C16R, I have been intouch with Orange bikes UK when it came to dating mine. Frame number is a good starting point although there are a number of different conventions to dating bikes, as ive found out.

Good luck with the Sale of your bike anyway :)

Still for sale! A final reduction to : £250 will save me buying an outbuilding to store the bikes, or putting one of them in the loft.

£250 is as low as I'll go for either bike.
