Orange Aluminium Elite

SOLD - Orange Aluminium Elite

Funny old game ain't it?

Sold on e-bay last night. Started it at £120 and got £186 - over 700 views and nearly 70 "watchers" led to 5 bids (1 retracted after 5 days because he'd entered the wrong amount??!) (plus an offer of £100 cash!!).

So from a guide value of £200 - 245 from Retrobike it was not that far off in the grand scale of things, but when you consider this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/270990841477? ... 500wt_1413 went for £590 on the same night with crack in the frame and seized seat post with only a slightly smaller frame you do wonder what is going on.

Not really, I'm glad you got your sale but that particular orange you posted is a very rare beast indeed and not the everyday joe avaliable bike..this might explain

Think you got around the right money for it, maybe towards the lower end but not far off. If it'd been a 19" I think it would have made nearer £220/50 but there's not as much demand for 21".

The Formula's a different bag of turnips all together. Before the damage was found it was up at £1000!

Ahh thanks for the explanation - I can remember the Formula name but 20 years has dulled the memory of where it could "rank"......

Thanks - I didn't think I needed a 21" at the time (I'd come from a 19" Dynatech which I'd been very pleased with (until some bar steward nicked it)) but the salesman was positive and as there wasn't one to try in the shop I went with his advice. Hey ho. If you are 6 foot plus you always seem to be shown only the biggest bikes for some reason rather than allowing you to try up through the sizes.
