Onza / planet x double cage pedal owners?

I used to have some of those onza double cage pedals on my trail bike but I've sold it and now I want some red-caged pedals for my road/commuter bike......I was wondering if I can bolt only the smaller cage to the pedal body? do the threads allow the long bolts to screw right down without the extra cage and spacers?

Seems like a solution.... Not many cheap red cage pedals otherwise

I need a compact caged pedal..... I thought the double cage converted to single inner cage would look pretty neat, but I've gone ahead and got some wellgo lu-m21 because they're only 238g......but also clean looking without toeclip mounts...even if they aint red
