OMAS seatpost binder bolt: 9mm (vs. 8mm)?

I'd like to replace a Campagnolo seatpost binder bolt by a OMAS one. Though the OMAS's diameter is 9mm vs. the Campagnolo's 8mm (what I believe is the standard).

Was there a 9mm standard in the 70/80?

Was there a OMAS 8mm too??

Am I supposed to modify the 8mm binder to 9mm (drilling?)???

Thought it was, we were wary of alloy bolts BITD. For alloy stem bolts we would use s steel bolt to tighten the wedge and swap for the alloy one. Can't do that with a seat bolt though.

I'm sure the Titanium SABA ones were a straight swap and likely made by OMAS anyway. Otherwise it's time to get out the drill.

Re:

In case of crankarm fixing bolts I also swap steel for aluminum after tightening.

Thx for the info on SABA. Wasn’t on my radar up to now. Any good link to find some info about SABA?

Also, are you aware of 9mm binder bolts?

SABA seat bolts in titanium are like Andrew Hague "titalite" titanium seat bolts.....unobtanium :(. Yep, I forgot we did the same with crank bolts lol. There were lots of light weight alternatives to OEM BITD including your OMAS seat bolt with odd sizes...

Re:

Almost seems like OMAS assumed a framebuilder would build a frame around their lightweight hardware and components, so to speak around a 9mm seat pinch bolt ?! :-D

Re:

So, offering a after market 9mm bolt in fact OMAS must have assumed that their customers would drill the seat post binder to 9mm?
