hi guys, was wondering if anyone could help me with some info on this Dawes (pic attached)

It came in to our bike recycling charity workshop, and apart from the fact that it's an old Dawes we're a bit stumped.

The reason we want to know more is that a local guys has been VERY keen to get his hands on it, basically just demanding that we name a price and let him have it, but he won't tell us why he wants it and is not interested in any of the other similar bikes we have so it's making us think there is something more to it than meets the eye (unless he's just really keen on the colour!). We're not that keen on selling it in its current condition as it needs a lot of work and before we se about stripping, junking dead bits and refurbing it we don't want to accidentally ruin it if there is some special significance.

There's no frame number on the BB other than '60 62' which seems a bit short for a normal frame number?

Any info gratefully received!

It looks like a 70s Galaxy to me, one below their top of the range touring bike the Super Galaxy. Half chrome forks, chrome fork crown, the 60, 62 will be the frame geometry. If there's no longer number underneath the bottom bracket there could be one on one of the rear drop outs but Dawes frame numbers aren't much help. The Galaxy is a nice model but you can pick up good original 70s ones for around £120-£150.

Is that a Reynolds 531 decal at the top of the seat tube?

Thanks for the info very helpful, still can't find a frame number and he decals have all rubbed off so can't tell but doesn't look like a normal 531 decal
