thanks for that ..

i think mine is a early one all cable roots in place just need to sort ot some straight forks crank etc lots to do i will start to post some pics as it gets built up...any luck on seat posts that fot ...27.6 help love a old use to go on it cheers

A USE post with a shim would be the easy option as you can still get the shims new from chain reaction in all sizes, however, shims and old aluminium frames don't always go well together. It just depends how far above the top tube the seat tube goes.

old o

thanks so much for your help theres about an inch of frame sticking up from the top of the frame ..is that good or bad ?

hmm, I'm not sure what other people would think but I reckon an inch is alot and it may be risky. Saying that the shims are about 3 inches long so there would be a decent amount of shim in the frame itself. you just don't want to put to much stress on the bit of seatube above the top tube or it might crack. I wouldn't shim a seat post in either of my kona frames.

Your O looks to be the same vintage as my O from the cable guides which are rivited on.

My O takes a 27.2 post with no issues though, so I'm not sure why yours would be that different in post size other than poor build quality.
