OK, you've done it to me.

I came here because I was selling some retro stuff, someone pointed me to a post here and I thought "that's interesting, lots of people who like retro stuff". I've stuck around, I've gone "ooh" at some pictures, "ew" at others (I just don't like rasta anodising...) and seen a lot of bikes I once lusted after are still running and some kit remains aesthetically exceptional.

But I've got a mountain bike. It's a nice one. I love riding it, it's unashamedly new (despite being a rigid steel singlespeed) with hydraulic disc brakes and I'll ride it anywhere on anything. I don't want another one.

...however...

Is this how it starts? I followed a link from another thread, found a retro site devoted to a bike that once dazzled me in my keen teen riding years, and something in me went "wow, wouldn't it be great to have one of those?"

I don't need another bike, I'm not even sure the one I'm currently admiring would be a very good ride, whether I'd fit it with newer, better-working parts, whether I'd go for the prettiest parts from that year or whether I'd simply go for a faithful stock build (although I should imagine that would be difficult and expensive) and, once built, if I'd ever ride the flippin' thing or whether I'd be too worried about scratching it (or, in this case, it cracking apart under me).

Nevertheless, that bike-lust tug at the back of my brain says "go on"...

SO, if anyone has any info on a salvageable 17" 1994 Cannondale Delta V 1000 up for sale, I begrudgingly want to hear about it...

If you let it, it hits you... Hard.

safe way to not go overboard is the operate a strict* one in one out rule.

not that you'd want to get rid of your current ride, just when the numbers get a bit bigger.

Yup.....just like that...

All I was doing was innocently Googling for a Rocky Mountain photo one lunchtime

You take the blue pill and the story ends. You wake in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe.

You take the red (RetroBike) pill and you stay in Wonderland and we show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes............

A building site? One with people on it? Like, brickies and stuff? Now you are just being silly!
