Looking at the Trek Fuel EX 5.5, 6.5 or 7 and also the Specialized FSR Pro, Comp and Expert.

Am I better to wait a little while and get the 2010 version or hang on for the cheaper 2009 bikes? One of the shops said that Specialized want to increase price by 12% or they may use cheaper components to keep the price the same.......

Or is there any other full susser with lock outs front and back to look at.

Also, Evans, pretty unhelpful. Want me to pay a deposit to get a bike built up so I can try it out..... Another LBS got both Trek and Specialized all built up ready to try out and no deposit.

I am lucky to have the option of sourcing a bike through another LBS who will give us 15% due to the scheme our company are in. They will not adopt one of the Ride 2 Work schemes.

I was very impressed with the 2009 FSR comp, guy at work has one. Both shocks are a bit basic but the overall package is excellant for the money.

Ignore them lot, they're all nuts!!

Buy the Trek.

Al, :D

New Treks with ABP rear should work fantastically. Of those you listed, only the EX7 has that one. I'd steer clear of those lower end models with old tech. They don't work nearly as well.

I've been riding with Spesh (Enduro) FSRs for 6 years now and they work great. The rear end with the Horst Link is very active all the time.

I'd say buy the one which geometry suits you best.
Just make sure that if you go with Specialized, you won't buy a model with Specialized's own marque or X-Fusion shocks. They're total crap. Go with Fox Shox. That would take the FSR Comp and Expert out of the running.

One good option would be to wait for the 2010 bikes to arrive and then buy a 2009 Stumpjumper FSR Comp from the clearance.

<sensible head on>

Ride them both - even if it means leaving your credit card with Evans (spit) as a deposit. Then buy the one that you most enjoy riding.

Buy a Yeti 575. Why? 'Cos it's available in "Yeti blue" and there's no better reason.
