Hi, does anyone know if it is possible to fit a new type bottom bracket in an old saracen (1993) frame as i cannot find a decent retro chainset at a good price thanks fpr any help.

yeah, can't see why not. If you're talking hollowtech II then they come with spacers to adjust to 68/73mm shells anyway. hollowtech and octalink would need the correct spindle length.

but scour the classifieds, ther'es loads of chainsets come up and many a good prices.

I run a hollowtech (hope version) bottom bracket with my bullseye cranks, works a treat a but you need to buy shims to make up the difference, I got mine from GilM on this forum.
