I agree that this is over-priced, but

a. I believe that the 97 RockShox cartridges are well-made and reliable, unlike previous ones.
b. good luck in finding a Risse equivalent

I believe I'm right in saying that this won't fit pre-97 Judys.

def. the later Judy carts are better quality then the first plastic ones and even the first alloy ones can leak.

Risse one are not known for leaking, and they are said to offer better damping performance too. I have one, but did not tried yet.

Yep, no problem to get Risse GEM from their website. Judy cartridge will brake and leak sooner or later.

BTW, mine 98' blow just few weeks ago. I guess I could expect it from over 10 years old and well used cartridge.
