NOS 28h Campag K2 £20 BIN

Arrived and built on to a set of Ringlés tonight. The coolest but daftest rims ever; 28 holes for light weight, deep section for heavy weight:

Lovely.

Ha! Medium weight but uber-cool. They are certainly strong and stiff - they built up straight from the start despite the tension being off so I had to build by feel. They will take something special to knock them out of true.

The big thing now is I need a bike for these to go on...

Had a pair of these rims sitting here for a while now..

Finally managed a pair of hubs too (just need spokes and someone to build them for me now..)..

Never seen a set built up til now though... very nice.. 8)

Not too bad to build up. Only problem is the fact that the rims are soooo stiff and strong that they are hard to pull out of shape meaning that you can have wildly varying tensions and yet still be true! The 'ping' test has to be employed, or a spoke tension gauge.

For spoke length, use a tool like SpokeCalc:

http://sheldonbrown.com/rinard/spocalc.htm

contains loads of hubs and rim combos. The ERD for these rims is 519. I tend to find that these caluators allow you to find a way of lacing the wheels up using just a single spoke length all round - I'm using 256mm for the front, rear drive and rear non drive all 3 cross. Makes keeping spares a load easier and cheaper.
