Well you know more than I do Steve, but I'll be surprised if you don't get more than £135 posted for it on eBay.

What did you make of it dynamically compared to your retro Konas?

Hi Anthony, I don't think anybody knows more than you about Konas

I'm seriously suprised nobody bit at £135 posted :? its going to cost me £15 to post with Parcelforce and the headset cost £20 something :?

Its strange how differently it rides to my old Konas, the front end seems VERY high even with short forks and its a much much less forgiving ride

I don't know how it compares weight wise to earlier frames but it rides like its been overbuilt, it hasn't got that pinginess ( made up word ) of the earlier frames but then again thats the direction hardtails have taken :?

I was in my lbs yesterday and couldn't believe how heavy some of their high end XC hardtails were

135 is a bargain. I have seen them go for 200+ w/o headset.

Let's hope ebay comes up trumps for you.

Too big for me and I already have a 2004 Explosif.

Funnily enough, the top and down tubes are quite light, 31.8 and 34.9, both in 7-4-7 gauge - cf 95-97 Explosifs also 31.8/34.9, but down tube in 8-5-8. But the modern bikes have more weight in the stays, which are both fat and plain-gauge 0.9mm. Partly to deal with disc brakes I guess and maybe also mimic modern alu direct drive, but yes at the cost of being less forgiving. I think it was quoted at 4.8lbs for a size 18 (my 96 Explosif weighs 4.25), but part of the extra weight must be the multi-purpose dropouts.

I like the pingy ride too, but to be fair I don't use long-travel forks and I guess once you're into 100mm, you're going to get into the kind of riding where a slightly over-built frame is what's called for. I think the modern Blizzard weighs at least as much, more if anything.
