Non Pneumatic Tyres

It's been tried ever since pneumatic tyres were first invented... Every 10 years someone convinces himself he's thought up something new.

The more delusional ones start gibbering on using scientific phrases that don't have anything to do with it.

Biggest problem I see, is how do you adjust the air pressure if there's no air?

True, but it's one of the more interesting attempts I've seen. If you could find a material that changes its resilience based on applied current/voltage then you might have something close to 'air pressure' adjustability. Think that's me starting to gibber :D

We've got a demonstrator somewhere in a museum with that type of hex form tyre thingy on.
IIRC it was part of an armoured car project that was shelved.

They built it in the 80s..........

Something similar was seen earlier this year as a mtb tyre and was discussed on here, cant remember where exactly. General consensus was if it let mud in, which it did, what use would it be and referring to pneumatic tyres if it aint bust dont fix it.
