Just got in from first night-ride of the season and had a pretentious bit of baiku forming in my head so I thought I'd inflict it on you all;
Work is relaxed.
Sun shines like gold.
Returning to an empty house.
Bike greets me, an old friend.
Lights affixed,
Into the sunset we ride
Road - Train - Trails
Sunshine fades,
Lights project perfect trails ahead.
Chalk sparkles like earthbound stars.
Dark hands of thorn and branch,
They grab and tear to no avail.
Hidden eyes flame in the intruding light.
Singletrack - Fireroad - Clearing
Eerie noises, a fox screams.
Cold air burns the lungs,
A stillness in chaotic times.
Lights appear in the distance,
Climbing closer,
Tea cures all ills.
Climb - Cake - Tea
Into the dark.
Wind screams, my nerves jangle.
Pushing fast, a downhill flight.
Animals scatter before me,
The terror in the night.
The end comes too soon.
Home - Tea - Medals
Counting the days till christmas,
I'll miss this place....
