Next project...

no wait, the one after the next. This will be a slow long-term build. Probably be sussing out some nice retro parts here :) , starting with an M737 rear mech or an old xtr rear mech. Head tube is 1 1/8", so might be looking for some nice 63mm forks so I can choose between rigid and suspension. Just though I'd share for now...

Is that a 1991? It kind of looks like it but not 100%

Why would you want an M737 rear mech on that? Wouldn't it have had a short cage M735 or something? I had a 1992 Explosif in Gold and I'm sure that's what it had fitted.

Anyway, if it is what it looks like it is that will be one sweet ride.

It's a 92. Actually you're right, I don't want the M737. I got the front derailleur and a couple of cable hangers with it and they came in an M737 box, but obviously that was just a box he had hanging around. I'll post a pic of the front mech so it can be identified, and then I'd like to get a matching rear mech. If you're sure it was a short cage, that helps too! :D

But it is what it looks like...just the black option, with original bars (unfortunately cut down really short, so will go on my city bike), saddle, stem, rear tyre, seat clamp, and fork. The decals are the ones that apparently came on German and Dutch Konas. Pretty sweet for around £150-160 posted.

Here's the mech. Model number anyone?

I'm sure I'm even more thick...would have been a good place to start though :) I'll check it out. It all arrived yesterday, so wasn't thinking clearly...too busy sweating in the palms and cleaning up all the bits

Splendid. It looks indistinguishable from the Explosif Pro below, doesn't it? Although I think the XT fm probably means it's an Explosif in the black option though, as the Explosif Pro had a Suntour XC Pro (natch!)

How about fitting bar ends with those great little brake lever extensions - race ready!

It's an M735 actually. It is stamped on the back.

Not an Explosif pro, just the black option. But the difference was only in metallic or flat black, aside from the component group (and the ti option on the pro.) But no bar ends for me. I'll probably stick to some black low rise EA50's I have lying around.
