Firstly welcome.
And something that's struck me as poignant - so many people had their bikes nicked - I did myself.
I wonder whether bike crime spiked with the burgeoning popularity of mountain bikes.
My first, proper, mountain bike I bought for myself (in 91) was stolen, out of my then girlfriend's dad's garage - I suspect somebody must have clocked me riding around on it, to go looking for it. But only a couple of weeks prior, somebody else had tried to steal it (and failed) whilst it was locked up outside somewhere.
A few years later, my hack mountain bike was nicked out of my grandmother's garage, fortunately they left the rather duller looking, albeit better bike.
Prior to having mountain bikes, I had other bikes for years. The only one that ever got stolen had been left unlocked outside a local library.
