Need ideas for home run business

Hi there , we as a family could do with a big mote cash coming in the house. The mrs works full time doing her book keeping business, and works 3 days for a big company. So I have the kids to drop and pick ip from school and have them in holidays. I work for myself as a painter and decorator, have a few regular customers but not much on at the moment.

So could do with a business that we could do at home so can fit round everything . Any of you do anything at home or know someone that does??

Don't have any money really to set anything up. Don't want toske loads , just bit extra money coming in a month be nice.

I cant really help other than to suggest you look at your skills and try to apply them to an area that you can do from home. This means looking at your work skills, but also anything else you have going on too.

A house mate of mine used to bake fancy looking cup cakes at home then sold them on a market stall in a trendy market in London. (I think I ate most of her proffit though)

Steer well clear of any "work from home" offers you see tied to lamp posts though.

The only work I have ever done on the side at home was fairly a specific contract and related to my work back ground. It involved designing componants for a truck mounted military laser used for IED identification and analysis (and possibly in the future, detination-Starwars here we come!).

You could do shows on a webcam? There are some real pervs out there - just look at the thread started by LGF entitled "woman you like but shouldn't" or something like that. Perhaps you could do a retrobike webcam where you set up some super bling retro mtb's and people can subscribe to spend some time "looking" at it.

You could also advertise as a flat pack furniture builder... build Ikea units and the like. Advertise in the local press or supermarkets.

Or bigger... what about a Kitchen Fitter? - Assemble and fit all the units and sub contract any bits you can't do well - like Gas Electric and Plumbing.

We got a guy in to do ours and he was a donkey, I ended up refitting most of it myself and it was easy to do it properly - probably easier than making the mess he did.

With a lot of companies you can even buy pre-assembled units. Advertise in the local press.

i like that idea - no outlay other than a few cheap tools.

a friend used to buy designer clothes and ski wear from tk maxx, stick them on ebay for 5 days with an opening bid of cost plus fees plus £2. anything that sold was instant cash, andything that didnt sell she took back to the shop for a refund!

there's a lot of people buying from car boot sales and selling on ebay.

only downside is the fees but there's a cost to most things

Put some adverts up, very little outlay, if you get no responses, it costs you nothing (much) if you get lots of enquiries, you know there is a market.

Find someone who has a field, Apply for a composting licence.

Ring up all the local gardeners/landscapers and tell them you will take all the green trade waste off them that they (normally) find a pain in the arse to get ride of (under cut local trade sites)

Also Bag the compost up and sell it back to them

Why not set up a site dedicated to old bicycles, thousands would flock to it then you could just sit back and live like a lord off the advertising income from all the links on it.

Just look at John, who else do you know that has an ermine cycling cloak and has someone like Ed Edwards running infront of them flinging himself across any puddles so that John can ride over them without getting his white porcs dirty?
