Mystery Steel Road Bike ?

Alembic 42

Dirt Disciple
Just picked up this as a project.

Not sure what it is yet.

Came with Shimano 105 5500 mechs, RSX brakes, Rigida rims on Sachs hubs, 8 speed cassette, Sugino crankset with alloy rings. Selle Rolls saddle. 26.4 seatpost.

The frame has been repainted but is of nice construction with forged dropouts, quality chainstay and brake bridges, and nice cable braze-ons with guides. Tig welded with unicrown fork and 1 inch threaded headset.

The fork steerer has 97/07 stamped in it as well as Aprebic

lugless construction is not very common in Italy
it exists but is only infrequently seen

one possible explanation for the Italian thread bottom bracket might be a Belgian origin

"usually" Italian produced frames do not exhibit domed stay ends where the stays meet the dropouts

housing stops do not show the sort of design one would expect to see on an Italian product
