My MKM

PWT

Retro Newbie
Hi all, first post here. I’m currently restoring a 1979 MKM which lay in a shed for about 40 years until a few weeks ago. Trying to keep it as original as possible, although I will be fitting a triple chainset on the front along with a 14-28 5 speed freewheel ( I need to get my 68 year old legs up these 20% - 33% climbs here on the North York Moors).
The frame has some surface rust bubbling through in places, but it will have to do as I don’t have the budget for a re spray; I’ll just call it ‘patina’. Have stripped it down (the old freewheel, and cup type bb didn’t half take some shifting!). Have been polishing up a few bits like the Universal centre pulls.
The bike was custom built to a light touring spec for the original owner, who is exactly my height. An early ride before strip down confirmed it fits like a glove.

Very nice. I bumped into Wes Mason at a funeral recently. He was well and 'still interested'.
