My Hack…

Took a while, may be pre 98 or post 98 probs pre but doesn’t really fit road or mtb category. Just a flat bar hack for track, trail, gravel and tarmac.

Got to replace the gripshift rubbers and will probs upgrade front derailleur to XT at some point, would like a nicer stem and cranks as I find something cheap.

It is supposed to be 531 but my 27.2 seatpost was a no go (not even close) so the 27.0 Thomson elite went in, very very snug but fitted nicely with a little effort (clamp was bent slightly open so wasn’t cos this was too tight.

Anyway all built and ready start slowly and build some fitness again as really need it and some weight loss.

Assuming it’s one of last British built ones before production went to Czech republic (couple of reasons it is marked 531 super tourist and think the Czech ones only had main tubes in 531 so marked double butted rather than ST. 2nd reason is the seatpost aparently went to 27.2 for Czech builds but British built just before that were 27.0 and this is 100% 27.0).

So frame should be 99-00 I’d guess as had bar end sti shifters 7x3 and deore kit and think 98 was stx.
