Mark requests contributions towards month end (so any time now really) but I'd suggest chucking stuff up here as you do a ride and then we've got good source material without having to scramble around.
Naturally I'll do something on last weekends ride. Obviously I'll flatter all who came
Ok, let's get some contributions for the newsletter, say by Sunday 31st July - something on rides this month and plans for August, photos would be great.
If nothing comes in there's danger I write it myself which will a) be self indulgant; b) may miss out stuff that others have been doing or planning.
Thanks for the contribution West Mids, newsletter now up.
The Retrobike Rides Monthly Newsletter - August 2011
With the next instalment of the National Ride Series just a week away it’s time to get that retro bike ready and that day-glo lycra aired once more. You may already have seen the MacRetro lads advertising their Drumlanrig ride in their signatures, but please sign up here if interested in attending.
Retrobike Rides have now been going strong for many years. They have evolved from a couple of dodgy looking characters meeting in the woods to ride their retro pride and joys to groups of up to 40 enthusiasts meeting up to enjoy their bikes, company and trails.
In doing so a friendly atmosphere has been created and good riding manners developed, giving Retrobike Rides unique qualities and banter. As always with Retrobike Rides, everyone is welcome and made to feel welcome.
All abilities are catered for with the rule being we only get round as fast as the slowest person, with short cuts and chicken runs being planned into the routes.
If this appeals to you, please come and join in at one of our National or Local events.
*The final round has been opened up for all regions to submit a bid to organise and host it. We’ll then post up their plans and every Retrobike member will have the opportunity to vote on the most popular idea. The event with the most votes will become the season finale for 2011.
And lastly there was the Scunthorpe ride with the Lincolnshire Lads, Dodging downpour's and angry insects it all ends in smiles. Aftermath Here

July:
It was a fairly quiet month by NWA standards with only one ride at the beginning. A return visit to theSettle to Malham loop with the NE&Yorks group was a brilliant route made all the better by some stunning weather. The warm sunshine made the climbing a bit more arduous but made the beer at the obligatory pub stop taste extremely satisfying. There were also some great descents, fantastic views and the usual great company and banter.
August:
There will be many NWA regulars travelling north across the border for the MacRetro Drumlanrig National Series ride in the middle of the month.
Then, during the final bank holiday weekend, a ride around Ribblehead and Dentdale will take in some of the finest natural riding the Dales has to offer.

This was on a Saturday morning ride at the end of July.
July:
We have managed to squeeze in several weekend early morning rides this month locally. These rides often start at around 8.30 and we are back by around 11 - so if anybody who is short of free weekend time wishes to join us this is a great opportunity. Rides tend to be arranged at short notice - just keep an eye on our area chat section.
Additionally we have ridden out every Tuesday evening this month, visiting Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Derbyshire on our travels.
August:
Much the same as above planned really, with people going away on holiday we haven't planned any major outings, but the local ones we have been doing are proving popular. We usually have around 7 riding but this fluctuates by the week.

July:
The infamous Gates of Wrath part 2 took place around the beautiful countryside and villages of Huntingdonshire. Excellent turn-out with some new faces turning up which was nice. Hopefully we gave the right impression and our new friends will be joining us again soon.
We also had a short-notice ride at Thetford on a very hot and sunny Sunday. Fantastic swoopy singletrack that went on for ever.
August:
No firm plans but there are rumours of a couple of road rides being planned so keep an eye out on the Anglian & Lincs forum for the annoucements.
Lincolnshire - Contact Pickle or Andy B for more details.

July:
Scunthorpe was the venue for this months ride, riders from as far a field as Leeds decided to sample the trails north of the Steel Town. Another quality day out on bikes was had by all with stops for beer and cake. Even the weather didn't dampen our spirits, see the aftermath thread here for more details.
Thanks to Chris V40 for suggesting Scunthorpe as a start point and Longun for showing us his local trails
August:
We may be able to squeeze a ride in August, but with the National Event up in Scotland and the ride planned with the N.Yorkshire group over the Humber Bridge there are few weekends left free.
I'll see what I can do & if enough folks want to ride I'll sort something out

July:
July saw a Woodbury Common ride. See linky below >>> The weather was looking slightly poor but we were lucky with only a couple of light showers. Mrs Jimbo-xc had baked some lush cakes!
July also saw makster stepping down as Deputy Area Events Coordinator , but on the plus side I'm the new one . If you have any ideas for future rides please pm either jonnyboy666, heathy or myself (tiboltrider). I'd be quite keen to do a retro roadie ride or a night time Haldon ride mid-week if anyone is up for that!
August:
There have been no plans for an August ride, however Gravy Monster is organising a Bristol ride around Ashton Court and Leigh Woods for Sunday 4th September >>>
It's looking like this could be a really good turn out so please all come and support the SW region. If anyone is having trouble with getting there add a post to GMs thread and we'll see if we can something sorted out!
There will also be a bike jumble at the end if anybody wants to sell stuff.
* These low scores generally indicate that Sinnett177 couldn’t recognise you and so could only score on basic things like attendance. If you drop him a PM with a description of who you are and what you were riding you will have your points amended. If you've been missed off completely, again PM as above.
