My 1994 GT Avalanche AL rear cable stop is missing

Hey guys,

I have an Avalanche AL I'm about to polish and restore. Before that happens, I need to replace the rear cable stop (some muppet has filed it off).

I know I can get new cable stops that fit around the seat tube or seat post - but I'd really like to put it back as it was intended. Does anyone have the same frame with the original stop? Is it the same shape as the other stops on the frame? Or is it curved to direct the cable toward the cantis?

If you could post a photo of how it looked, I'd be very grateful. :D

Many thanks.

Re:

Thanks for the pic GM. :D

Hey Alec, how about you saw the cable stop off your Avalanche and pop it in the post?

and inside that ran a white teflon tube, about 3-4 cm long

Re:

Thanks for the replies and photos fellas. Much appreciated. :D

Hey Sean. Yep, I decided to get a cable stop welded back on ... but need reference of how it looked and how it was positioned.

If it proves too costly I'll fit a crossover cable guide.
