I half expect the knob jockeys in parliament to ascend to that, in fact it might be the most interesting thing they can do and watch everyone suddenly engage in politics, just to see who hits first.

Exactly and so many small minds blame the last government for this financial mess, quite forgetting or even not knowing the Global economy is stuffed too and for the last government to be responsible for that, is simply laughable or admirable.
But it doesn't matter who the last government was, they will always be blamed for anything that is wrong in the present, but for current government to keep blaming the past for their continuing ineptitude, well that says loads about what is in power, they haven't got a clue.
But maybe that's it isn't it any party that gets in knows full well all they will be doing is tinkering with something that is out of their control and what is happening to the Global economy is also out of their control, so basically for a stab at power and all it brings for a few years, they have to be seen to be in control, when in actual fact, they are not and perhaps never were.
Perhaps we have also been under an illusions for so long, modern times and more access to information and education, people are starting to wake up to the fantasy they have always existed with.
