MUDDY FOX COURIER MEGA 1990

Retro Newbie
Hi All,

It's my first time on here so please bear with me.

I've just found my old Muddy Fox Courier Mega after years on the missing list.

It appears still in totally original condition, even the tyres are 'Muddy Fox' and still have plenty of tread.

I'm going to give it a clean and I will post some photo's of it in the next couple of days.

Can anyone advise me:

1) Does it have any value?

2) Where should I get it serviced? My worry is that if I use a local bike shop, they might use modern components on it. Can anyone suggest a specialist that deals with this type of bike that you would recommend.

3) If anyone has any info on the Courier Mega, perhaps they could share it with me. My one's bright yellow.

4) Would like to get hold of a Muddy Fox Wheel Disc, if anyone has one, please get in touch. (The only thing missing from when I bought it.)

Thanks for reading my post, photo's to follow.

Dave

A bike shop will charge a fair bit of money for a full service, that is to say greasing the hubs, headset and adjusting the gears you are looking at £100+ more than the bike is worth. I think a disc wheel in this case is just a plastic cover over the spokes the for sale pages here or eBay is the place to go.

Thanks Carl, appreciate your quick reply.

I'll post some photos later in the week, would appreciate your comments.

I love seeing retro bikes in good original condition like this, very nice even though it's lower end. shifters need changing for period correct though imo.

Oh, and keep away from a bike shop service. Bloke up the road had his bso looked at + new cables fitted and was charged far more then the bike's worth. Wouldn't be so bad but he was getting it ready to sell!

Looks nice, frame can handle some upgraded components from the period, something like Deore LX/DX mix would be good. Agreed you need to ditch the shifters though, where are you in Surrey, i'm on the border so may be able to help with servicing.

Carl.

I picked up an aluminium M/F circa 2000 for £10. It had those shifters on it . They do the job but 10 years newer than the bike I think.
