I've been looking around for a modern xc steel frame but everybody seems to be building tanks mean't for 140mm+ forks :?

Whats out there for up to 100mm fork and relatively lightweight, why is everything getting heavier :?

I don't really want to spend more than about £600 on bare frame but if I run under 3hrs in London I'm going to treat myself and spend £1000

But lets stick to £600 for the moment as it gets a little easier around the £1000 mark

So l want lightweight steel frame, 26" wheels, up to 100mm forks for around £600 what do I get :?

A lot of these modern steel frames are bing sold on versitility so should run a range of fork lengths without goosing the geometry significantly. They are getting heavier due to CEN and to allow this ability to run a bigger fork if desired

Orange R8 is good for 100 - 120mm
Orange P7 100 - 140
(why not but my new unbuilt frame in the sale section??)
On One 456 will run a 100mm fork as will an inbred
Kinesis Decade Virsa 100 - 130mm
etc

Loads out there will run 100mm but with a weight penatly

I believe the Pace RC104 & Cotic Soul are both happy at 100, but will go larger should you wish.

Rocky Mountain Blizzard? though for 2010 seem to have moved to Columbus something or other tubing from 853.

Feck £870 that's a lot of squids for a steel frame.

Sanderson "Life" or "Breath" would be worth considering, they're beautifully finished frames - or the Pipedream "Sirius".
