just found the reason for my creaking saddle / seat post! the top clamp that grab the saddle rails has come loose in the post! no problem, BUT! due to the design of the bike it uses a telescopic seat post at 30mm dia the only replacement I can find is a NC-17 Empire Lift Pro Seatpost as the oe one appears to be no longer manufactured
where do they measure from to get the seat post length? from center of clamp to bottom of post or from bottom of clamp to limit line?
as I'm worried that the NC-17 may not be long enough and its a mail order only part I dont want to throw money at it till I'm 95% it will fit and I can set it to the correct length for me to ride comfortably

usually the length of the post is measured from the centre line of the clamps to the end of the post, so a 375mm post would give you (roughly) 275mm of exposed length. i would always play safe with around 100mm inside the frame, even if the limit line was lower.
