Mini GT

WadsworthRouleur's mini Zaskar build has inspired me. My daughter has a mini GT too but not nearly as cool at that Zaskar. I planned to put V-brakes on her bike because I "borrowed" pieces off of her bike to make the M900 cantilever's work on my Zaskar LE. Now I'm reworking her entire bike.

The stem and bars are steel with an aluminum coating. It's pitted and little rust spots are coming through. I cleaned them up the best I can but I will need to take them to my father-in-law's shop and buff them out.

Here is the little fork for the 24" wheels. It's 1&1/8 threaded.

This won't be as cool as that 24"Zaskar but my 9 year old daughter doesn't know that. To her it's freedom and wind in her hair.

The front derailleur was a piece of junk. I have this aceraX laying around and it will match the rear.

I need to rebuild the hubs and sort out the brakes but I think she will be on it soon.

Awesome work and a great colour. My daughter would love that. Glad to know I've inspired someone else, after being inspired by all the other amazing builds on here myself.

Interesting to note that GT did a rigid 24" fork. I'll keep my eye out for a set of those for the mini Zaskar.

Thanks for that. I found that bike at a garage sale in my neighborhood a year ago. I gave them a $20 and they were happy to get rid of it. It wouldn't be a bad idea to keep an eye out far another 24"GT just to use as a parts donor. I finished up the brakes on her bike today and serviced the hubs. She will be excited to get on it again. I might take her on a beginners trail.
