What do you mean? The damage or the paint having been removed around the serial number? Didn't even notice until you pointed it out to be honest.

I suppose it's possible that what looks like a crack is just in the paint. If so, he should have removed some paint to show whether the steel is sound underneath. The way he has done it makes it look as though he is showing the crack so that the buyer can't complain later.
