Old School Grand Master
I have decided that I must reduce my 'fleet' of bikes as I am getting over-run with them - and space is becoming a problem. The most logical place to start is with the ones that I have not ridden for some time and my Mercury (ex Mel Bentley, Leeds) machine, that I have used in the past as a winter bike, is probably the least used. My winter riding is now done on a more modern aluminium 'cross bike which suits me fine - and which has a triple chainset for those 'unfit' days!
The frame is built of Tange double butted tubing in a slightly 'pearly' white finish that has some knocks and scratches but is in generally reasonable condition. Seat tube is 57.5cm c-2-c and top tube is 56cm c-2-c. The spurious Bontrager decals were fitted to brighten it up a bit some time ago. Double bottle cage bosses with bolts. Allen key seat clamp.
Components are -
Gears - Shimano SIS rear indexed 6 speed, XT front. Down tube levers
Chainset - Shimano 105 50/38 tooth cartridge BB
Bars etc. - 3T stem 11.5cm and 3T bars
Brakes - RX100 dual pivot calipers Exage levers
Saddle - Turbo 'Bernard Hinault' in rare green shade on micro adjust pin
Wheels - 700c Quando rear Maillard front hubs on Rigida rims 36/36. Note - tyres are in need of replacing
Mudguards - ESGE
No pedals fitted, crank threads are fine.
