Just back from the powder coaters .Late 70's early 80's Mercian frame set I think .
Mercian frame set . 24 1/2 inch. Circa late 1970's early 80's by rebalrid, on Flickr

Sorting components out at the moment . Going to be a mixed bag of makes . Trying to use bits left in shed .Have about 80% of bits required. Not going to be totally period.
Temporary head set fitted .
Brakes make take a bit of time as the frame is for nut fit. Budget is limited on this one.

Re:

Building with a mix of components is fun, and allows you to pick up bargains by choosing less popular brands.

Anything Campag is expensive, but by looking at Velobase you can find other components that will work just as well, I did this with the build of my 1978 Dave Lloyd.

For brakes, don't ignore Dia Compe, I have several pairs that work very well and many of their older models are still available new.

Agreeded regarding Dia Compe . I have a set on a Carlton Giro d'itaila . They almost have a canti lever look to them and work very well . Better even than Mafacs on another bike I have.

Re:

That looks nice.
I am not totally up to speed with powder coating.
I thought decals didn’t stick well to powder coated frames but looking at yours, they obviously do.
Are the decals lacquered over?
May I ask where you had it done, I am interested as I have a frame in need of refreshing.
Local to Derby I assume?

BTW Shimano RX100 brakes come in several variations, long and deep drop, nutted and A/K and look nice.

Cheers.

Re:

I have had a number of frames powder coated and have never had a problem with self adhesive vinyl decals which most are now .
Water slide decals etc may be an issue with regards applying to powder coated frame . I always add a light coat of japlac clear lacquer to keep the water off the decals.
I used to use Derwent enamellers but they closed down about 18 months ago .This frame was done by.

Well happy with result .

Looking round for a pair of brakes at the moment .
I have Shimano RX 100 they are short drop however . On a tight budget on this one so I will see what I can find at a jumble .

Re:

I do not think I could fit a centre pull on the back .The clamping bolt fastens into the lug it the top of the seat tube .
I have not seen this arangement for clamping a seat post before .
