Nothing to worry about mate! Stacks of Simplex rear mech's was like that, all down to cost.

and
a brown patch centre of first pic looks like a rough broken edge

the pics are for a 'long hanger' which is fitted on my Peugeot

but, all the internet pics [whether long or short ] - all have 2 silver covers

hence i'm puzzled
