Maximum installation length of a suspension fork

Hello,
I have an old Dyna-Tech Torus XT with a broken Suntour SR Duotrack 8001 ( installation length: 38.5 mm) suspension fork.

What would be the maximum installation length of a replacement suspension fork?

Thanks for any help.

Re:

Installation length?

Do you mean the distance between the wheel axle and fork crown race? (A-C)?

You could fit a longer fork, but it may affect the handling of the bike, some people don't mind this.
. I'd be looking for another 390mm fork.

Yes, I mean this distance. The problem is that modern suspension forks all have longer distances (450 mm minimum), so I have to look for an older one, but even older ones like the Rock Shox Judy and Indy have distances of 420 mm. Could this be acceptable?

You need a 63/70mm travel fork. Marzocchi Z2 or Z3 from around 1998 would be right, are easily overhauled with spares readily available - and reliable.
