Max capacity of an XT short cage rear mech

Anyone know what the capacity is of a short cage 8 speed XT rear mech - I know that it is stamped on the mech but what is the useable limit?

26-36-46 and 12-24 8speed, no problems apart from 26/15 and below.
If I use a 12-28 block then I can't get the 28t cog when in the 46 tooth front ring.

Hope this helps. Any ideas on my bottom bracket?

Thanks, am intending to use it with a compact road chainset and a 12-27 cassette on my cross bike so should be fine.
