Mavic Sachs Maillard

Is this wheel of any use or is it only fit for the tip?

I've no idea about this kind of thing, it's a bit before my time.

mavic's clincher rim , the ma 40 preceded open 4cd which preceded open SUP and the current open pro so it will have value/use to someone.....

the 92 refers to the year of the freewheels manufacture but most companies were playing 8 speed by then , do you know what threading the hub/freewheel is ?

Is that a fixed-freewheel hub? I wonder if the hub is quite a lot older than the rim and block....

It's threaded on both sides. Markings read '24 86 Maillard Made in France'.
I know nothing about Maillard but '86 could be year of manufacture ?

i think the hubs/freewheels were made with lots of different threading (all similar of course  ) I use the sheldon brown site for some guidance on the matter http://sheldonbrown.com/freewheels.html

Maillard 700 series hubs were pretty common in the 70's, also came badged as different makes.........even Ron Kit rebadged them as Milremo.

Good hubs but lacked the cachet of Campagnolo / Shimano etc. French Pelissier were a cut above Maillard, indeed their Pelissier 2000 professional hubs were pretty glamorous

Stick it on the bay and someone will buy it :D
