Mavic headset

Just got this from racer x,just need to machine it to fit my Pace 1 piece stem steerer.Oh,and find a frame to put it in!! :?
This picture was before I bought it so I have now turned the band round and have decided not to machine it to fit the Pace steerer,but I do still need to find a frame to put it in and I think I will try to assemble a complete Mavic group set.

Can you elaborate? What does the stem/steerer look like that requires you to machine this lovely new headset?
