Marin Team Paint Job Gone Bad

Had it professionally powder coated, added waterslide stickers and sprayed it myself with PlastiKote Clear.

A few months later the clear coat started coming off. You can see it looks like snow flakes.

Questions:

- why did that happen? Was it because I did not light sand the powder coat layer but left it nice and smooth?
- how do I completely remove the clear coat layer? It won't come off evenly, and the decals are solid like rocks
- is the combination of powder coat and PlastiKote that didn't work out?

Re:

Not keying the powdercoat before spraying it won't have helped, and maybe some reaction between the powder coat and paint layer on top.

What was wrong with leaving the powdercoat as it was and applying the Decals on top of it?

I'd probably use paint stripper /nitromors to remove the rest of the paint, chances are it won't remove the tougher powdercoat underneath.
It might damage the powdercoat though, you won't know until you try it.

Waterside decals are fragile and needed the clear coat
