For Sale Marin Team Marin mountain bike

nwbowie

Retro Newbie
I have here a refurbished Marin Team Marin, double butt stays. I kept the majority of the original parts and only change is the wheels to brand new Raleigh Neuro wheels and tyres with Shimano Deore hubs to compliment the rest of the Deore parts. There is a new Iscaselle seat and a set of pedal if the buyer wish to have them instead of the original ones. . I put a new KMC chain on as well. Several scratches on it due to the age of the bike, but nothing serious. I am looking for £300. Thanks for looking.

Im pretty sure that's a 17" ( c to c) 1995 model. Nice bike, but there is quite a bit of kit changed on it.....including those nice pace forks, stem, seatpost, binder, headset, brakes, wheels etc.

Catalogue here.

However, still a nice riding frame and, imho, a good price for a good frame and forks.

Where about are you? Can you post?

Good luck with the sale.

Hello,

Thanks for the information, i am not that knowledgeable on the retro bikes, but i did realize that the forks were decent when i see the selling on Ebay for way over a £100. I was not sure on the price if it was too low, because i saw 2 on Ebay, one was £270 and the other £1,950 + Postage. I thought it was all original but its good if it has had an upgrade. Now you mentioned that, i realize my price is bargain and too low. I am in Barry, Wales and i could post, but it will be at buyers cost which is around £30, or buyer could arrange their own courier to pick up.

Thank you again, much appreciated.

Nigel

I did not say upgrade....just changed.

I think is a good price ( imho) for the frame, forks and what's left of the original bike all the same.

Is the upgrades equal, better, or worse than the original? Like I said, I am no expert on these bikes, and I value your input. I put time and effort into this bike and a bit of money, and just wanted a decent return. All your information is appreciated. Thank you.

The changes are what you could call 'fair and understood' canti brakes, especially the marin lite ones (missing from yours) are a rat to set up and threaded headsets are getting harder to source, let alone afford.
The worst part on that bike is the 2 spanner seatpost. Its an older style fixing.
27.2mm is a common size for hunting down a suitable item.
