Marin Team and Team Ti

Marin Team

You've been hunting a Team Marin for a while - you going to bid?

It looks a bit scruffy in places but would be fine as a rider. If I had room I might have a punt, but as it is I'll just watch from the sidelines and wince at what I paid for that NOS frameset as the price for the full bike struggles to reach £100!

Team Marin

Even so, it's not looking like it's going to go high - very few of us love Marins around here!

Was it you that got that NOS team marin from arrow cycles a while ago then black cat? again i was looking at that one myself and again at the time i was skint.......if you ever think of selling it........

Team Marin

Yeah, that was me. I was well pleased at the time, thought it would go a lot higher - I'd imagine an NOS Explosif frameset from the same year would've hit three times what I paid for the Team Marin.

Thing is, the fact that it's NOS is as much a curse as a blessing... 1. Try tracking down a bike's worth of appropriate (read NOS) components without spending a total fortune. 2. It's hard to justify ragging what is probably one of the only NOS TM framesets left anywhere around the woods, when you can pick up a whole TM bike for (well for what's looking like) about £100.

Still, if I come to sell her, I'll give you a heads up before I cast her to the tender mercies of our peers...

That would be excellent dude. If it's any consolation i would have happily paid what you did for the frame. Have you built it up yet and do you have any pics?

Not built yet - so far I have been collecting NOS bits, but to say that I am some way short would be a serious exaggeration!

I would say it's likely to be the new year before serious headway gets made on the build because it'd be a waste of the frame to compromise too much on components just to get her finished.

I'll be sure to post a few pics when she's done though.

Why is that BITD I never found a better ride than my 94 IFT... I always felt then that they were considered uncool. Tried all it's competitors (or most anyway) and none of them fitted me like my Marin.

I know it was welded in Taiwan - but it just felt right. If that goes for £100, I'll be shocked...

Team Marin

My first serious mountain bike was a 95 Pine Mountain - a great bike that I sorely regret getting of. A better bike than my beloved Clockwork to be fair.

Still, for now Kona apears to be the retro stead of choice of most of the forum, so I'd be (pleasantly) surprised if the Team Marin makes a good price (although I doubt Haggis will be quite so pleased!).
